WHY Some People Fail & Following Directions
In my opinion, most people CAN follow instructions and directions, even little Children. However, in my opinion, some people FAIL because the instructions or directions are too VAGUE.
Example #1
Once, I was dispatched to “Edgemont” PA. So, I looked on the map and drove to it. I searched for several HOURS trying to find the address. Come to find out, there are THREE “Edgemont “ PA’s and there was a LONG Delay before I reached the destination. I ask you. WHO’S Fault was this? Mine or the STUPID Dispatcher’s?
Example # 2
Joe pointed to a Parking Lot filled with Cars and Said to Jack- “Go wash that Car.” And, Jack replied, “Which One?” Joe said, “The White One.” Jack replied, “There are 10 White Ones.” Joe said, "The dirty white one." Jack replied, "They're ALL dirty!" Joe finally got angry and threw his hands in the air and screamed- “It’s the White One with License Tag # B4 I Cry!”
Example # 3
A company's instructions are to Jack- “Install a Web Site URL into the Box and click okay.” The question is “Which Web Site?” Jack owns 3 Web Sites! What the company really meant was, “Install the URL of YOUR New Web Site, which you just received from us!”
Example #4
A man walks into a Bar and says, “Give me a Beer!” So, the Bar Tender gives him one and the man chokes, spits it out and exclaims, “NOT this Sh*@t!”
So, when Paul says to Jack, “It’s ALL YOUR fault, because you FAILED to follow my instructions!” It’s Time to hit the WRONG ANSWER Button once again. It’s Paul’s FAULT for Providing Jack with Instructions that are TOO VAGUE and NOT Specific Enough!
There is an old saying, “The Devil is in the Details.” If people, companies and businesses, would simply take my advise and provide people with “Super Extremely, Detailed-Specific Instructions” the better results they would see. But, some people YOU JUST CAN’T REACH or Even TEACH!
